Can't believe I have only just discovered the wonder that is Fred Aldous. New favourite shop - three glorious floors of art and craft heaven!
Amazingly managed to restrict myself to one purchase, this beautiful canvas ribbon by East of India. Will definitely be back for more!

Hello! Had a gander round the Manchester Craft and Design centre today and loved all the little studios, especially Kathryn Edward's shop.

Gorgeous mini-canvas collages with adorable hand-written text. Love them!

You can find her blog here
As if that wasn't enough talent, she also has the most beautiful voice ever. Music here!

Blink of an Eye

As an extension to my Idioms project, I experimented with photography

Using an overhead projector and acetate layering I projected the image of a clock face onto an eye

Site & Scale

To extend my Alternative Image Making project I explored the possibility of translating my work onto a larger scale, using a different medium more suited to my chosen environment

I decided to use icing.

Alternative Image Making

My self-directed study assignment was to create at least 2 'alternative images' of household objects, without using conventional drawing materials.

I chose to do a cake stand and teacups, partly because they are widely recognised shapes but also because these are the type of objects I am mostly interested in - beautiful, aesthetic and decorative.

I used collage and embroidery to illustrate my design, using layers of wallpaper, brown paper and paper doilies.
